Elvis and Me

Wedding photos of Elvis and Priscilla seem like they belong in my family photo albums…that’s how engrained these photos are in my childhood memories. My dad loved Elvis and my aunt boasted one of the largest memorabilia collections, so there was no shortage of the King around.

I think Priscilla may have led me down the path of long dark hair and liquid eyes.

I also cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen the made for TV Elvis and Me.

Honey was 14 when she met Elvis. Can you imagine?

all that dark hair against all that white kills me.

He adopted the pseudonym .THAYAHT. around 1919, a “bifrontal” palindrome (visually symmetrical, it can be read from right to left, left to right, and in a mirror).

BORN  Ernesto Michahelles (1893-1959) he is best known for his revolutionary design of the TuTa and his involvement with the Italian Futurist movement.

I recently was exposed to the illustrations Thayaht collaborated in with couturière Madeleine Vionnet. Whilst digging up as many illustrations as I could find, I came across Thayaht’s sketches for the TUTA.  Amazing to think he is responsible for the first full one piece, very close to a modern day worksuit/overalls or for the ladies, playsuit.

back before the days of DVR and youtube,  I used to have an organized plan for recording music videos on VHS.  Especially on MTV when actual video play started to become a rare beast.  The most memorable video recording score was Last Goodbye.  I think I also had a ritual of watching the video every morning before leaving for school. I was just a ‘tad’ obsessed.  Catching Jeff via video offered a rare glimpse of Buckley to a girl living in New Mexico…

You always come to the parties

You always come to the parties
Too bad the feathers are for the birds
All your needs
I will not let you grieve

I want your picture but not your words
You know the wanting, but there’s no verse

We always run our heads too much
We know the reason, but such and such
On your own,
You will not let your arm go

Jack of all trades
Master of none
Cry all the time
Cause i’m not having fun

We all look bigger together
you know if this is the devil’s plan
On your own,
You can not call me your heart

you always want to be forgiven
The devil loves what and you print
All your needs
But you can not; you will not agree

I will always remember the first time I watched Crash. Steff?  really?
