Digging up Kylie Minogue’s old videos on Youtube today,   I was reminded of how much I love the video for Slow.  All the colors, hot bodies and Kylie’s red lips.  It’s so fresh right now with all the colorful frocks from Gucci, YSL, even Zara at the moment.  The trend is also dead on for face and nails.  Images via FGR.

Watch it and you’ll be bidding summer a warm vibrant welcome…if only all swimming holes were so sultry.

I’m obsessing over the Fox Dress from Deyrolle + OC.  This is how I’d rock it on my fantasy date with Willard. We could take a stroll with Ben through a field…

Two of my favorite shows so far are Vena Cava and Band of Outsiders.

I’m loving on two small touches that each brought with them.

Vena Cava – the silver and gold modern plate necklaces caught my fancy.

So modern and so not in my normal repertoire.

I was inspired to add something new, so I found this lovely girl on Etsy for a solid $19.

Band of Outsiders – boots with RED laces.  Rugged red laces.

There are tons of options online, as well as at your local JCrew men’s dept.  All for a solid $4.

Both of these items will spruce up my look.  My black stand-by lace up boots will get a nice lift and my neck will have some fun.

It’s been a little since I can really remember coveting an entire collection from just one designer.  I think of tom ford or chanel…of course at times it’s been marc jacobs…stella mccartney, chloe.

currently I’d sell off my first-born for everything from the miu miu spring/summer 2010 collection.  well, not really, but I’d come pretty close before my conscience would sink in.

if you’d described to me that there were aspects of figure skating elements and cat prints involved, I would’ve thunk you crazy…but that’s just exactly what it is…and I HEART IT ALL.

Alison Lewis always has the best videos each collection.  The last one consisted of running around in pretty under garments, pretty dresses, vintage luggage & chugging champagne out of the bottle.

the latest is set at the fair, summer at its peak, cute light dresses and lots of color…oh and vampire teeth!  hooray!

check out the video here. click on video.

my favorite thing about Nine.

Marion Cotillard is on the more elusive side unless she’s posing on a red carpet.  I tried to dig up as many photos of her in more casual attire…b/c I just love her relaxed, functional style.  I’m happy to see she is never without a propper topper AND diggin her with cute bf Guillaume Canet.  Towards the end here…I had to throw in some glammed up Marion.

Isn’t this photo just great?  Imaging hanging out with the two?  God…imagine going through their closets?  Of course…I would need a translator along.  French is on my list of things I want to master.

I just love this photo!  Look at the hair!  One could for sure get lost in there…makes me think I need to re-visit some highlights this summer…

I think that jumpers could be my favorite item of clothing…gosh, I do love dresses too…but look how cute Madonna is in one circa 1976.

Brigitte in one that was made to run around a European city:

On the jumper note…I just checked out the new Halston ready-to-wear line, Halston Heritage at Bergdorf’s.  The new line is a throw back to classic Halston of the ’70s.  I can’t even handle how awesome each piece is.  I’d love the Tie-Dyed Short Jumpsuit or the Jersey Halter Jumpsuit.  See the rest here.

Hope you are having a lovely day.

Felt like a sinking ship…

I’ve been slowed down this past week, thus the lack of posts and enthusiasm…

…slowed down and tied up by a nasty villain called HEAD COLD!

After a weekend of non-stop bed and meds…tea and well, not to really complain about it, lots of movies and reading…I’m feeling a bit more like myself.  I actually mustered up the energy to paint on some  Essie Chinchilly to match my awesome new Every Little Counts Henry and Anais tank.  I love love love it.  I only wish I had ordered a size down…but the medium fits like a swingy dress over jeans and a thermal.

Just a bit groggy here:

Also making me feel a bit more like myself, my studded Dolce Vita Wesley Booties.  Add to the mix a John Coltrane station on Pandora…and well, I’m finally a happy camper.

Funny… painted nails and high booties can make a huge difference.  Reminds me of Tom Ford and his suit of armor.

Peak of the shoes that make me feel like myself:

I’ve also started my Masters program at the Corcoran College of Art + Design.  I’ll be sharing more on that as I get into it.  I can report that my first trip to the art store was a success…I am the proud owner of a drafting board and an architectural scale.  Just gotta learn how to use ’em.

So once this cold is gone for good…I’m full on ready to jump into school with enthusiasm Max Fischer stylee.

I hope you all manage to steer clear of said Villain and send you healthy vibes….

Well Saddled In Heaven

The most practical shoes I’ve ever owned used to be my tattered old cowboy boots.  Comfy enough to wear all day and walk miles…yet still cute enough to not make me feel frumpy. Replacing the boots, my black oxfords.  They’re great with wide legged wool slacks or black tights and a lacy vintage dress.  I can dance in them, walk in them, run in them and LOVE in them.

Fittingly, I happened upon an  interview with shoe designer Rupert Sanderson.  He’s featured on the Lula Scrapbook and talks about his inspiration for keeping the saddle shoe and oxford alive via his Saddled O’s collection.

It inspired me to put together some images of the iconic shoe.  I guess perhaps  a characteristic my favorite shoes tend to have in common is masculinity.

Empowering.

Snippet:

Why do you reckon that now is an opportune moment to breathe new life into oxfords and launch the Saddled O’s collection? I just felt that now was a good time. Had a feeling that people were tiring of trainers and the idea of a shoe with genuine sports provenance felt right. I like the bookish cool the shoes give a girl… There’s something brainy about girls who wear them and I find that sexy. Perhaps my favourite film reference is Woody Allen wearing them throughout Play it Again Sam – the ultimate dysfunctional date movie.
