Fall is finally in the air here in DC. I couldn’t be more pleased…and I’ve already started with a new mantra for the upcoming season:
More BLACK, More Structure, More height (shoes). LESS bullshit (in my wardrobe and in general). I’d like to thank GAGA and the Monster Ball.
Some items I’ve collected to get the kick-start:
JC Hathaway Wedge from BonaDrag:
MAC black liquid eyes and Amplified Lips in Impassioned:
The Walkmen in a public library:
New Slave bracelet via New Mex via my sis:
and some new INK:
Something about Fall…maybe b/c it’s the witching season…I love it the bestest.
Oh and how could I forget, I just got my Sophomore Issue of Chelsea in the mail. Chelsea is the sweetest. She included a handwritten Thank you and some pretty rad handmade buttons. Support her efforts now! I’m really into the small publication of beautifully done magazines these days. In my eyes it’s an inexpensive way to grow an art collection…
The firs issue sits beautifully amongst the rest of my cherished zines. Get yours ASAP Here.

I know that it’s true
It’s gonna be a good year
Out of the darkness
And into the fire
I’ll tell you I love you
And my hearts in the strangest place
That’s how it started
And that’s how it ends
I have to keep posting about Jane Aldridge’s “other” blog because it’s truly just one of my favorites…
and always inspires good feelings…and sparks inspiration.
Jane’s knack for image combination and unrestrained highlight of the naked body are so worth, at the very least, a weekly browse.
This Lynsey De Paul song has me quite chippy at work.
and this photo may set the tone for my weekend spirit. Even if it is a rainy weekend here in DC…

I just stumbled across this book by Washington Post contributor Anna Jane Grossman:
Obsolete: An Encyclopedia of Once-Common Things Passing Us By.
The book promises to remind us of lost treasures like mixed tapes, the boom box, letter writing, typewriters, (to my horror Porn magazines) : ) …and even books.
Keep the book alive at the very least and add this one to your list. would be a great stocking stuffer or white elephant gift.
Bio from Amazon:
Anna Jane Grossman is a New York–based freelance writer specializing in lifestyle and arts and entertainment features. Her work has appeared in dozens of publications, including the New York Times, Salon.com, the Washington Post, CNN.com, the Associated Press, Elle, New York Magazine, Marie Claire, and Fortune.
My trip to NM was quite a success. I found so much inspiration and brought back some great treasures.
digging through old family photos, I found a great one of my parents taken at the state fair shortly before they married.
I also picked up some great vintage crocheted gloves, soon to be tea dyed for summer wear.
french candies in cute little tins.
the awesomely vintage looking hair clip with a hair net attached.
more vintage photos of beautiful family members.
I also picked up fabrics and buttons for my summer sewing project. I’ll be using the cute puppy/kitty print for the shorts jumper and navy hearts will be made into the pants jumper:
Digging through stuff at my parents’, I brought back one of the porcelain dolls my grandmother gave me and also some of my sister and mom’s old dooney and coach bags…they just do not make ’em like they used to…
and finally, two projects I had on the back burner are nearly complete…frames for my saucy handmade floozy and hussy doilies, a frame for some vintage photos I brought back, and a lamp shade and tassels to make a shade for my vintage lamp. I also pulled a pretty turquoise vintage necklace from my grandmother’s jewelry box.
