The Black Swan Theory or “Theory of Black Swan Events” was developed by Nassim Nicholas Taleb to explain 1) the disproportionate role of high-impact, hard-to-predict, and rare events that are beyond the realm of normal expectations in history, science, finance and technology, 2) the non-computability of the probability of the consequential rare events using scientific methods (owing to their very nature of small probabilities) and 3) the psychological biases that make people individually and collectively blind to uncertainty and unaware of the massive role of the rare event in historical affairs. Unlike the earlier philosophical “black swan problem“, the “Black Swan Theory” (capitalized) refers only to unexpected events of large magnitude and consequence and their dominant role in history. Such events, considered extreme outliers, collectively play vastly larger roles than regular occurrences.
One of my dearest pals, Mollie,invited friends to her family farm over the weekend for some catch up with mother nature.
I was happy to get away and try to recover from this pesky summer cold I caught last week.
The Byron Farm is magical. Magical chickens live there and lay Tiffany blue eggs.
Amongst others in creamy peach, tawny brown and sunset pink.
We had a funny incident while on the farm…a case of escaped chickens!!!
I can now count chicken herding as one of my special talents.

I plan on being prepared this year and giving my Huntress boots a rest.
I’ve already returned to a bad habit I have of coming up with mental lists for each season. This season seems to be cluttered with shoes…but all pretty practical…well, maybe not the wedged ones from Jcrew…but we have to leave room for some impractical, don’t we?

I just took a fun walk through Payton Turner’s special and magical Greenpoint home via Refinery 29 and now I’m hooked on her illustrated and stickered wallpapers. Each is unique and made to order. Her designs bring back all my Lisa Frank sticker filled days. I’m inspired to try something out myself….
The hand drawn dandelion creatures paper kills me. I can picture it in a formal dining room…with a vintage stuffed Boar’s Head to tie it all together.

Lately I’ve been noticing more and more of the shoots Carine Roitfeld styles. Maybe it’s the mood I’m in or maybe it’s just that she always proves to stand apart. It’s easily apparent that this is the woman who inspired Tom Ford to revolutionize Gucci and sexxxx it up. Carine’s work ooozes sex in a way that makes bondage a covetable must. What a tasty life.

I saw Rufus Wainwright this past weekend and he reminded of how much I love Jeff Buckley. I missed this doc when it was realeased last year but now I look forward to it…belting out Last Goodbye is one of my fave pastimes…

1) the Pendleton blanket. an old constant on my parents’ sofa…I’m not plotting to make two of these babies my own. Two? yes…because after deciding on the vintage J. Capps And Sons Tribute Blanket, The new National Parks Editions made their way into my view plane. I think I’m sold on Rainier. The juxtaposition of the pinks/greens in J.Capps will go well with the bright red/stripes.
